Poems(????) "4-Liners"

'Twas 4-liners that started me to write these poems(????)
"Unicorn" was the first that I penned!
I can't recite them – they just seem to pop out
In my mind they are just a blend!

They don't take long to read – just 4 little lines;
But they certainly are fun to write!
It's like tasting Grandma's really good pie;
'tis good right to the last bite!

Armadillo

A native of Texas is the ol' Armadillo;
With his armor plate, he's really quite a fellow;
On roads he gets squashed to a little pile of Jell-O;

Buzzing 'round the flowers is the honey bee;
A bee's really busy it seems to me;
Their sting can hurt, but they're fun to see;

A hard animal to figure is a big ol' cat;
They're ornery and stubborn and some get fat;
If they're acting bad you can tell them "scat;"

Not much looks so funny as a waddling duck;
If he wants to walk fast, he's just out of luck;
He swims really well, and his "quack" shows his pluck;

A gigantic ol' animal is the huge elephant;
He's talented but to play a piccolo he can't;
Through his big long trunk, he really can pant;

Of movie fame is the one named Magilla;
They are black and brown and sometimes vanilla;

An animal that lives in a stable is a horse;
They're friendly and a lot of fun to ride, of course;
They're strong and in a race they're really a force;

They live in a desert where you wouldn't want 'a;

His leaping ability is equaled by few;
Perhaps his hops gain him a better view;

That he's a harmless pussy cat, I ain't buyin'

Living in the ground is a squiggly night crawler;
He may come out at night, but he's not a brawler;
Sometimes he's used for bait off the end of a trawler;

Some hunters like to shoot them and put them in a pail;
If they should hunt them out of season, they could end up in jail;

He can run the mountain trails with a load upon his back;
Though he may be loaded down, there's room for my lunch sack;

We wonder if his stripes are white – or are thy black?
It doesn't really matter as he runs up the trail and back;
