Every now and then – in a weaker moment;
My weird mind might have a serious thought!
If that thought comes out as a serious poem(????);
I write it down as though it was bought!
But the truth is, it's the "Darrel" in
me;
'tis my "given name" showing it's power.
So I write the thought down – I spell check it well;
Then I go take a quick cold shower!

When at last my time has come to leave this vale of tears;
To ascend to be with God above, who'll quiet all my fears.
I hope He will allow
me one last wish – I trust I don't sound smug;
Just on more kiss from my Sweet Wife, and one more gentle hug!

God put us on earth, not to be alone, but to share our life with others;
If we were fortunate in where we were placed, we had parents, sisters and brothers.
And
if our life went as we would hope, we found a mate to share our dreams;
Though there may be tears – there is laughter too – life's
not as long as it seems.
We must try to help others less fortunate, as we
go on down the road;
Attempt to do the things we should to help those with a heavy load.
It doesn't
always have to be a lot – just a smile to brighten a day;
A kind word or a story to share – can help to light the way.
So as
we go about our daily chores – work with others – we have
nothing to lose;
We never know when God may call us home – we must be certain we've paid
our dues!
